After more than two months, there's a new post on Baghdad Burning! With a sigh of relief that Riverbend is still with us, I urge you to read her latest message from the front lines.
It may turn out to be one of her last from her homeland.
In The Great Wall of Segregation..., her first posting to Baghdad Burning since February 20, Riverbend observes the insanity that is Bush's (or is it al-Maliki's?) Baghdad wall. She recalls the city as it was prior to the onslaught of Bush's folly, and clearly longs for the tranquility of those long-ago days.
Riverbend ends her essay with the news that she and her family are planning to (finally) abandon Baghdad. Those of us who have worried every single day about her, who have been concerned for the safety of Riverbend and her clan, will surely read her anguished words with immense interest.
I haven't fully digested the new post on Baghdad Burning ... the sheer relief of knowing that Riverbend is there to write it at all is sufficient for the moment.
