I predicted a Veto over a month ago and I am sticking by my belief that this requested money is to start the next phase of the neocon plan. Iran is in the crosshairs and this administration is running out of time.

Condi Rice tipped the administrations hand to Bob Schiffer.

Murtha's comments came after Secretary of State Condi Rice told host Bob Schieffer that Bush will not only veto any Iraq funding bill that sets a timetable for withdrawal but would also reject any bill that sets "benchmarks" for the Iraqi government.

Rice said the president would not agree to a plan that penalizes Baghdad if the Iraqi government fall shorts. To do so, she said, would remove the ability of Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. military commander in Iraq, and other leaders to do their jobs.

"What we don't want to do is to tie our own hands so that we cannot act creatively and flexibly to support the very policies in Iraq that we're trying to enforce," Rice said.

BushCo has very few good options left and a new war could energize the media propaganda machine and influence those prone to patriotic jingoism.

Rep Murtha has it right. If Bush Veto's this funding bill and refuses to deal with Congress, impeachment must be put back on the table. It is the only way to stop these arrogant self-centered, power hungry imperial elitists.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Though I expect Bush is probably delusional enough not to understand that.

That is a good reason why the Dems should not give in on the funding.  Full funding with no strings gives Bush too much room to start a war with Iran.

I believe they (the Dems) are using impeachment as a deterrance against a war with Iran. Much like we held the threat of nuclear weapons over Russia during the cold war. "You attack western Europe and we will counter with limited tactical nuclear strikes on your armies."

Over at the White House, they don't discuss the Iraq War or the Afghanistan War so much as they discuss getting and keeping the whole Middle East under our sway.

The original PNAC war plan was to establish US-friendly regimes in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and then on up into Turkmenistan and the Caspian Basin, thus ringing in Russia and China, American's real enemies on the world stage.

Look at the insane drive to install a missile shield in Poland in order to protect Western Europe from Iranian missiles -- more of the same effort.

Impeachment should be happening RIGHT NOW, before this Administration goes right ahead and does what it does best -- start the next war, and the next war.
