(Secret ingredient after break)
LEEKS!
If memory serves, this mild cousin to Onion and Garlic are essential to many soups, such as of cock-a-leekie soup and vichyssoise.
The leek is one of the national emblems of Wales, whose citizens wear it on St. David's Day. According to legend, King Cadwallader ordered his Welsh soldiers to identify themselves by wearing the vegetable on their helmets in an ancient battle against the Saxons that took place in a leek field.
These sumptuous vegetables are frequently the bane of many presidential administrations, with much time and effort devoted to preventing them.
What...Not that kind of leek?
