Last Thursday, 10 middle-aged white men walked into the graveyard of history in a attempt to distinguish among themselves as the true heir to the Conservative throne of Ronald Reagan. A man who's Presidency ended nearly 20 years ago. Instead it was a battle to see who was the biggest neanderthal of the bunch. And, that's where the difference between the Democrats and Republicans end. The Republicans seem to be content with trying to sell the American public their outdated, stale talking points, while the Democrats are happy with being a bunch of centrists who stifle their liberal legacy in order to win the hearts of those who believe liberals are nothing but boogeymen. Even though, I hate centrism and believe it's nothing more than systematic political correctness, I feel good knowing that there is a possiblility that this country will not see a Conservative President on January 20, 2009.
Yes, I know it's early to call a winner.
Yes, I know it's unacceptable to count out the reslient Republican Party. The same political faction that will do anything, even sell out the United States Constitution, in order to hold onto power.
Yes, I know that having Hillary as the nominee will not only unite the Republican party, but won't guarantee victory.
But...
Watching those 10 men fawn over Reagan like little schoolgirls nursing crushes was just pure comedy.
If the Republican party thinks they can ride on the values of a man who was the George W. Bush of his time, then I feel sorry for them.
In November, the American people spoke.
They want adults to run this country, not children.
The Republican party appears to be operated on juvenile principles.
Boys, it's time to ditch the Social Conservative talking points and debate your opponents on the real issues.
Oops, my mistake.
It seems that according to the morally corrupt Newt Gingrich, you shouldn't be doing that.
According to the former House Speaker, Conservatives should avoid talking about Bush, Hurricane Katrina, Iraq, Walter Reed, Attorneys.
And, you know what, as sad as this might sounds, Newt Gingrich is right.
In 6 years the Conservative agenda has failed to solve all these problems.
George W. Bush has taken the Conservative movement down with him.
George W. Bush and the Conservative movement go hand in hand like lovers.
So, what's the plan?
Talk about Evolution, Gay Marriage, Abortion, and of course, Ronald Reagan.
Gentlemen, Ronald Reagan is dead.
And, so is the Republican party.
This country needs a conversation about the issues that matter like:
Health Care
Affordable College Tuition
Workplace Conditions
How to combat against Natural Disasters
Global Warming
Social Security
Job Security
Education
And, of course, ending the war.
But since the Republican Party knows that their agenda is nothing more than a colassial failure, why not engage in a juvenile discussion?
Hell it worked in 1994 when the GOP steamrolled into Congress by not debating the issues but scaring America into believing that the Clintons were part of a vast Liberal conspiracy hellbent on destroying bedrock American values.
Democrats, you might have trouble picking your candidate, but at least breathe easily knowing that 2008 might be the year.
Conservatives, let poor old Ronnie rest in peace, and please step back into reality.
My bad, reality has well-known liberal bias.
