Bonus update: One more great thinking point in email from a guy I work with:
Obviously Rush sees this as a key argument for the 08 campaign. Making racial attacks an OK way of deciding who to vote for is destructive and divisive for this country.
Rush's "Barack the Magic Negro" bit looks like it's about to boil over. He is viciously attacking a TV station in Sacramento that reported the story, and the station's website is running a poll asking whether this is racist or not. Currently the poll is showing 91% not racist to 9% racist. I know, I know, another poll, yadda yadda yadda, but this is really outrageous...

More information and thinking points on this on the flip...
The letters - almost all of them from Rush's listeners - are disturbing ...

A couple of thinking points on this...
This is the latest in a long, long series of racist comments from Limbaugh and a clear attempt at marginalizing several of his political opponents - and black men in general.
A popular white DJ portraying black men using buffoonish stereotypes is clearly and obviously racist. It's bad enough that "stations around the country who carry the show are having concerns expressed by listeners and even their own workers of color about the Obama parody." (via Crooks & Liars)
We have a choice to make: we can live with negativity, racism and childish name-calling on public airwaves like this, or we can try to build a functioning, multi-ethnic society. We can't have both.
How funny are jokes that are destructive to civil society, really?
It's time for Rush Limbaugh's listeners and advertisers to realize his judgment is so impaired that he seriously can't seem to tell the difference between an op-ed examining an issues seriously and an insulting and disrespectful parody, and that it's time to move on.
Again, the poll to freep is here...

Thanks for the clicky clicky!
Double Bonus Update: There's three more excellent diaries on this, and the last two have advertiser information. I'm going to make some phone calls now. Barnes & Noble, eHarmony... brands you've heard of are making money off Rush tearing down our country. Messed up:

Quadruple [er, Triple!] Bonus Action: terrapin-station84 had another diary on this from last night. And there are some interesting discussions going on in the comments, about
the global elite and a functioning multi-ethnic society, some serious questioning about whether this is in fact racist (I think there's no question it is, but I think taking the right's arguments seriously, as this person does, is a good thing), and some of the just charming behavior Rush has inspired in his fans.
