Apparently, the intervention of an F.B.I. agent has resulted in her not being charged, because he said she was trying to avoid a stalker.
O.K., I guess I don't get it. If I were to register to vote and give a false address, then I would expect to be prosecuted for voter fraud. Likewise, if I were to give a false address on my driver's license application, I would again expect to be prosecuted for fraud or perjury.
The stalker excuse makes no sense to me. The discrepancy in her address stems from the property records in Palm Beach County. She bought a house, and recorded her deed in her own name. Those are public records, and are probably more readily accessible than either the driver's license records (here in California, DL records are generally available only to law enforcement) or the voter rolls. It would seem to me that if I were trying to hide my physical location from someone, I would not put my name on a deed anyone could see.
It would have been an easy thing for her to disguise her identity as the property owner had she really wanted to. She could have put the property in a trust or an LLC with some vague name that did not identify her.
How long would it have taken a stalker to figure this out? You go to the one address and she isn't there, then go to the address on the property record. I am just not buying it. It pays to be a celebrity.
