Another day, another recruiting success for House Democrats. This time, according to the Buckeye State Blog, attorney and former Indian Hills Mayor Steve Black has entered the primary to take on Mean Jean Schmidt in the potentially competitive OH-02 District. This guy sure has a lot of credentials.
Steve Black has spent a significant amount of personal time serving the non-profit community, having served on a dozen or so boards of trustees and chaired several. He was the board president of Seven Hills School for five years, during which the school hired a new head and completed a very successful capital campaign. He is the past president of the board of the Childrens Home of Cincinnati, the largest local non-profit provider of social services to disadvantaged children. He also has served for four years as the mayor of the Village of Indian Hill and is a member of the Indian Hill Democratic Club.
Currently, Steve serves as a trustee of the Taft Museum of Art. He is the board chair of the Global Center of Greater Cincinnati, an organization devoted to raising public awareness and understanding of Cincinnati's role in the international community. Steve gets great satisfaction from seeing organizations change and prosper because of wise governance. The Cincinnati Law Library Association, providing law library services at the courthouse to the local bar, judges and court officials, is an example of an institution that has evolved substantially and flourished during the twenty years that he has been on its board of trustees.

Elections have consequnces, and the success of 2006 has spawned a successful House recruiting drive all over the country. It's a lot more fun to serve when your party is in the majority. Now, if only Chuck Schumer can steal some of this luck.
