Ok, I admit I have a stake in this question. I come from the Detroit area and a lot of my family back home are losing jobs cos the plants are shutting down. So I tend to look for used American cars on the rare occassion that I need to replace our car.
I also have two small kids and I want them to have clean air when they're grown and start families of their own. So I also look for a car with high gas mileage. Now that hybrids have been around for a while they're starting to hit the used car market, so I'm hoping we'll be able to afford one when our 10-year old car needs replacing.
I've been wondering what the folks in this on-line community drive for a while and since it's Friday, I thought we could all use a break from the heavier topics and play around with this for a bit...
Some of you might not drive at all if you're lucky enough to live in a pretty urban area. Fair play to you if you can get around on a bike or on public transportation. I used to do that myself but having kids changed that in a big way (it's not easy getting stuff home from Costco on a bike!).
At any rate - use this thread to talk about what you drive and why, or about other ways you try to reduce your carbon footprint now that the world's woken up to the threat of global warming (thanks Al!).
