Somewhere in the bowels of the den of inequity called the White House, I'm sure Commander Wonderjock is offering a lapdance in celebration to one of his first ladies tonight... that is, if it isn't past his bedtime.
Elsewhere, all around the beltway, I can only hope that a few Democratic leaders will be losing sleep tonight. Olbermann pretty well summed it up for them, tonight. I will only add that I have been through a lot today, emotionally, as well, and these are my thoughts...
I have to assume that our Democratic leaders have taken a political, rather than a moral stance on funding this illicit war... seeking to perpetuate the deadly fiasco and further affix it to the Republican party over the coming months and "save powder" for the election in '08. To them I say simultaneously, godspeed and shame on you. I supported you to stand for ending this insanity. What are you afraid of?!? More lies from Bush?
That being said, listen closely... I forgive you... no apology necessary... it will be viewed as a sign of weakness by others anyway.
I only ask you that you search your hearts again, and this time do the right thing before more die needlessly... it's not too late.
If you have learned nothing from Bush and Lakoff, you ought to know that he will never flinch and will continue to shout over and over his self serving small frame surrounding his version of the war... this must be met just as loudly with our wider frame of the truth... you cannot flinch in this game of chicken. As the absurdity of his position becomes highlighted in the glow of conflict he will begin to self-immolate.
As for myself, I have made the mistake of believing that I could finally rest my weary soul a bit. Simply put, if you are unable to lead, I, as well as the rest of the netroots which swept you into power, will drag you kicking and screaming along with us until our country is safe again. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
