As promised in yesterday's diary, this diary represents a petition of sorts -- a pledge to not financially support OR vote for any Democrat who votes "Yes" on the watered-down, Bush-friendly Iraq spending bill that has been agreed to in principle by both parties.
The goal is to get representation from all 435 congressional districts. When this diary is dead (and I hope you'll keep it alive by recommending), I'll print it out, comments intact, and mail it to all 281 Democrats in the House and Senate. I'll also send it to some of our favorite media outlets.
Don't sign it unless you mean it. But if you mean it, please let me suggest the following format:
- In the subject line, please note your congressional district. I'll tally them as each comment goes up.
- In your comment, send your message to our Democratic Congressmen. Use a talking point from yesterday's diary, or compose your own.
- Take the poll for added strength. Indicate whether you approve or disapprove of this Iraq War funding bill.
It's time to be heard. It's time to push back against the officials we worked so hard to elect and say, "You screwed up, and I'm watching."
If your CD is already represented, you should still sign. We have over 100,000 Kossacks, and we need to show our strength in numbers.
Finally, feel free to link to this petition or include it on your own blog. Every word will be saved for the benefit of our Congresspersons.
