Something this morning from The Guardian and Steve Bell:
Russia should not fear a missile shield in eastern Europe, George Bush said in Prague today, in his latest bid to placate Vladimir Putin, who has threatened to aim missiles at western countries in retaliation.
This from the Guardian this morning:
"My message will be: 'Vladimir - I call him Vladimir - you shouldn't fear a missile defence system. As a matter of fact, why don't you cooperate with us on a missile defence system?'" Mr Bush said.
Well who do you trust? More below the fold...
I don't know, a week before the G8 all the talk was how Bush was going to be flame broiled at the conference because of this lack of REAL movement on Global Warming and how what little he has done has been outside of the UN framework.
Magically a few days before the conference, Vladimir Putin is and most of Eastern Europe is anxious over the deployment of Bush's push into Europe of a missile system.
We all know Bush has drug his feet on Global Warming. But could it be true, that in an effort really show what a screw up he is that he and his administration will bring the US and Russia back in to the cold war? Well I wouldn't put anything past our commander and chimp.
But this has been going on for quite a while. Here's something Rowson did several months ago depicting Tony Blair pimping the missile system for Bush in Europe ...
So I don't know. Is all of this just something Bush and Putin have worked out to give cover to Bush's intransigence regarding global warming? Is it that Putin, after seeing Europe hand Bush his head in the canning of Wolfowitz as President of the WB, feels he can take this to the front of the class? Or is it all of the above.
My guess is the latter.
