Are we a country of laws or men? If we are not a country of laws, then we are a society waiting for a strong man to tell us what to do.
As a democratic republic, we are only as strong as our justice system, which is symbolized by a blindfolded woman holding up "the scales of justice." Justice is blind, we say, because it is applied evenly across the board, regardless of race, class, income, gender, sexual orientation, and political affinity. But maybe it's just blind to our current application of the law. As Richard Pryor used to say, "Justice is just us."
I have been analyzing evidence that might hold up in court that proves Bush and Cheney are war criminals. Let's hit them with everything we've got. It's going to take a lot of effort, generations maybe, to undo all the damage done by the Bush administration. So let's get started.
