This diary has information about the series and an updated question on Chapter Two. I am grateful to Susan G. for mentioning this diary in her review.
I had part three ready for my discussion series on Al Gore's Assault on Reason but dailykos' server went "505" on all of us. The text is Chapter Two, "Blinding the Faithful." I will post on Friday, June 15, at 3 pm PDT to open the forum. This is not a Run, Al, Run diary, please. Please discuss the book, the ideas in the book and the thoughts that come to you while reading. Please refrain from partisanship and "hot" language as well. If your thoughts are good, the other readers will engage you.
That's what it's all about, isn't it?
Three short points:
- The reason I will post on Friday at 3 pm PDT is, well, it's convenient for me. I do not care if the diary ever hits the rec list. I do want the diary to be as available as possible to all who want to participate. If you want to participate but won't be available at "post time," please hit the "subscribe" button on this diary, then check your hot list on Friday.
- I am rewriting my unposted diary. I will post it on Tuesday afternoon. It directly relates to my number three, here, and may be useful to those who will not have read Chapter Two by next Friday.
- A new question for Chapter Two: In Chapter Two, Gore describes President Bush's belief system. He describes who, and what, is the source of support for Bush.
My question is this: Who, and what, is the opposition to this belief system? Consider this question in terms of people, organizations and political philosophies.
