From AP (KYW News Radio)
BAGHDAD (AP) -- The U.S. military said 14 American troops have died in multiple attacks, including five killed Thursday in a single roadside bombing in Baghdad.
Briefly, I think that for some reason the casualties of war haven't been put in the front of other important issues. Further, this is a horrible spike.
Note that General Pace defends his boss' ill conceived war by diminishing the dignity of the United States Soldier via logistics.
From AP (KYW News Radio)
Gen. Peter Pace, outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a Pentagon news conference that "we can expect ... there's going to be tough fighting ahead" as a result of the influx of U.S. reinforcements to Iraq.
He said the military expects that "this surge is going to result in more contact (with insurgents) and, therefore, more casualties."
"More contact" is a result of adding numbers to a delusional and thrice plus failed 'strategy.' These bogas and half-assed 'assessments' demean us all. Worse, they demean the dignity of our dutiful and heroic Volunteer Military. Clearly, these people have abandoned all respect for those who are charged with pursuing their so-called 'plans.'
Purely despicable.
Forgive me for being brief. I think that this is very important news and I'll gladly delete this diary if someone front pages the story.
UPDATE: mcjoan has written an excellent piece (jinxing me) on the FP. Please go there.
