This will be a short diary, for which I apologize in advance. But I wanted to share this email from Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii)
A couple of weeks ago or so I sent an email to Rep. Abercrombie urging him to support H. Res. 333. This morning I received the following response from him (text below the fold):
Please forgive my tardiness in responding to your letter calling for the impeachment of Vice President Richard Cheney. Thank you for sharing your opinion with me.
While I have fully supported the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Cheney in past years, I believe that the November 2006 election effectively made the issue moot. By placing Democrats in a majority in both the House and Senate, the public made a clear statement about a change in direction. Congress has now resumed its long dormant oversight responsibilities over federal agencies and been able to stop some of the Bush Administration's more egregious actions.
I am not suggesting for a second that everything is now all right and that we have nothing to worry about. Congress' inability to enforce troop withdrawal deadlines in the supplemental funding bill for the Iraq was a stark reminder that there is still much to do to return to a federal government that acts in the best interests of its citizens. In the 110th Congress, I have been focused on changing the nation's direction through the legislative process.
My friend Dennis Kucinich has introduced a Resolution of
Impeachment for Vice President Cheney (H. Res. 333), and it has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee. Should that bill come to the floor, please be assured that I will vote for it.
Again, Mahalo for contacting me, and I will certainly keep your views in mind.
Sincerely,
Neil Abercrombie
Member of Congress
So IF the bill makes it to the floor, at least he will vote for it at that time.
Perhaps a bit more pressure from the public might make him more enthusiastic... ;)
