Today's NYT has this regarding McCain's assessment of his campaign
After Mr. McCain completed his speech, he walked through the Capitol, where he sharply dismissed questions about whether his campaign was in trouble and insisted that he had not fired either Mr. Weaver or Mr. Nelson.
"No, no, no, no," Mr. McCain said. "I’d describe the campaign as going well. I’m very happy with it. People are free to make their own assessments. I think we’re doing fine."
When asked whether he intended to stay in the presidential campaign, he replied, "Of course."
