The Bushies are going out of their way to manufacture fear. First they started with Chernov talking about gut feelings but explicitly saying there is no solid intelligence to back it up.
Then we have a report saying Al Qaeda is regaining strength.
Then George goes on the defensive in another news conference.
And the icing on the cake is a so-called "NEW" Bin Laden tape.
What's next? A manufactured terror alert? Oh, didn;t we see that we the so-called JFK bust?
I thought we saw this movie in 1997 starring Dustin Hoffman. At that time, the GOP accused Clinton of similar tactics. Now Karl Rove and buddies have spun out their new version of it. Perhaps a smart movie director will run with the idea and premiere their new movie called "Wag the Dog II -- Gop Bushie Style".
Have you ever noticed that when things are not going well for Bush and his cronies, that magically and coincidentally, terrorists pop up to increase the ante and the fear levels?
Well they are at it again. Never since being placed into office in 2000, has Bush made his intentions so clear. Scare the hell out of the uneducated public!
Their timing is impecable. They start off their charade right after a real attack in Great Britain. Automatically we are to assume that if it can happen there, it will happen here. Hmmm. Well nothing like 9/11 happened there, so that theory doesn't hold water. Still that's their premise.
So then conveniently the Head of Homeland Security says he has a gut feeling we might be under attack soon except that he has no credible intelligence to support his hunch. Have you ever noticed that every head of Homeland Security looks like a famous Nazi? That is reason alone not to believe him although there are many valid reasons not to believe him.
These guys are experts at spin. For instance, a report comes out this week that states Al Qaeda is rebuilding. Now technically, that could and should be used as examples of how the bushie administration has failed to address the security issues our country faces. But they spin it so that it justifies their actions in the Middle East. They spin it so that the ignorant sheep will continue to be afraid and put their faith in blindly following their man.
Of course, then comes the so-called main player, Bush himself. It's just killing him that he's more hated than his father. It's killing him that his poll numbers are worse than Nixon. But one thing Jr has learned over the years is that when you are down, you are not out. And when you have nothing to lose, you can do anything you want. And lastly that he doesn't care about what is good for the nation, hell he doesn't even care what is good for his own party. Because he is and always has been even as a young person a spoiled rotten arrogant rich boy who only cares about his own agenda. Of this I can attest to.
So George is compelled to justify, rationalize, even attempt to verbalize why he is not going to change his agenda in Iraq. The truth is that unless Congress sees that it is in their best interest to abandon this villian, he will continue these actions and we will continue to watch good men and women, Americans, die. Here is our hope. Our own history has shown that the people can compel Congress, however stubborn they might be, to override the President and change the course of history. Bush may not have to worry about his future but Congress clearly does and they are beginning to get the message.
So the Bushies are finding themselves in deep doo-doo. The American people don't believe them. The American people don't trust them. The American people want to go in a different direction than they do. So what happens next? Predictably, Lo and behold, here comes a NEW? Bin Laden tape. Only thing is most of it is bogus and old clips put together to give the appearance of a new message. This is not for muslums. Al Qaeda has made it clear they don't need this type of message to embrace new recruits or continue to rebuild their jihad. They are global using the internet. No, this is clearly intended to scare the sheep. Nice touch Karl but it isn't working.
So what's next? How do they end the movie? Cynics would say they would manufacture another 9/11 type event. This only demonstrates how little these people understand George. He has achieved everything he set out to achieve when he became a candidate. Today it is about pride, it is about ego. It is about how history will see him. Hence the movie.
The question is how will the movie end? Will the good guys win? Will the bad guys win? That's what it's all about. I find it fascinating that they are saying the exact same line of BS today that they said about Vietnam. If we leave we will lose. Hogwash! History proves you are incorrect! Oh, but I forgot. George and his cronies are all about rewriting our History their way. The problem is that real men and women will continue to die while the scenario plays out. That's the really tragic part.
The truth is that not only is George an embarrassment to our nation, but so are we. We moan and groan about how bad things are but we are unwilling to do whatever it takes to make changes. Hell, at least in the sixties we got off our butts and did something about what we didn't like. It wasn't just about Vietnam. It was about civil rights, it was about materialism, it was about real issues that affected our daily lives. Of course some times I wonder if there wasn't a draft in the 60's, if we would have made the same choices. Probably not. Perhaps it is time to reinstitute the draft just to remind our young people that unless they participate in the process, they lose the game in the long run.
An unexpected twist though may be making the movie more interesting though. There is clearly an errosion of support to the Bushie actions. Maybe some of these guys are smarter than we give them credit for. I like to believe that. The truth is that anyone who continues to support our actions in Iraq will lose their job in 2008 no matter what party they are from. Wouldn't that be a great ending for the movie? I mean the Bushies won't like it but then no one likes the Bushies anymore, so who cares! And the really neat part is that it is achievable.
I know there are a lot of disgusted peole in our country today. History has also shown that when people get angry enough, they take action. So what we have to do is turn up the heat and keep turning up the heat. Our country has withstood an awful lot over the centuries. One stupid arrogant man is not going to be our undoing. Our undoing is when we stop caring, acting, yelling, voting, basically do whatever it takes to insure there is a happy ending for the good old USA.
So send the link to the Iraq Memorial Quilt at www.cyndc.com to your Congressman, Senator, newspaper, anyone, everyone. This is one thing that can bring us together because there is no arguing with the faces of these great but dead Americans.
