I wanted to personally thank the Daily Kos community and Kid Oakland specifically for making my attendance at Yearly Kos possible.
Kid Oakland had my e-mail from the "Blogs United" list and sent me an e-mail asking if I would be attending Yearly Kos to represent Mississippi and Mississippi's only statewide, pro-Democratic blog, Cotton Mouth. I responded that I couldn't due to finances. I am a college student and a political activist. Neither provides much financial benefit as you can likely guess.
I then recieved an e-mail from Kid Oakland alerting me to the donor matching campaign he was about to begin and that I would be one of the original recipiants of funding to help folks from places like the South attend.
That pledge of assistance was enough to jumpstart my efforts and I started to call and e-mail friends and family. I was able to secure housing with a family member in Chicago and raised several hundred dollars in donations on my own. Those donations in addition to the help provided by y'all through Kid Oakland will enable me to attend.
Those donations and assistance will allow me as the publisher of the only statewide, pro-Democratic website in Mississippi (Cotton Mouth)to attend Yearly Kos.
Thank you very much.
If any of you are from Mississippi and/or write blogs in Missississippi please say so in the comments. We may be able to work together to help our party and people succeed in our elections this Fall.
