Today, Kos wrote a diary. It had 860 comments when I first saw it, and it wouldn't download because it was so big.
Why can't the Recommended Diaries, or all diaries, load first WITHOUT the comments, or with just the first ten comments, in case of Tips and additions by the author, and Let The Reader Decide if they want to plow through hundreds of comments?
Should be simple to implement, since sometimes it works that way accidentally. Is there something I don't know about settings here?
UPDATE: Go to your user page. Click on My Profile. Select "Comment Prefs." Choose "Hide" under Comment Display Mode. Save. Done. HAT TIP TO CLONECONE!!
Yes, I emailed tech support, but I've never gotten an answer back from CT, nor do I expect one. He's busy, but dial-up customers, those poor Democrats that supposedly make up our base, could use a little help with the lfrustrating jam-ups that popular diaries cause.
DailyKos works because the software is user-friendly. Let's keep it that way as we grow toward infinity...
