... is whether lying will continue to be an acceptable high level practice. Not just lying by politicians, but lying by anyone heavily involved in agendas that have a large effect on the American public: corporations, media, etc.
Maybe it's a philosophical decision, not political. But it seems to me that a nation which willingly accepts or at least is not bothered by - and does not punish the utterers of - baldfaced lies that go to the heart of what it is and what it wants will trip up big time sooner rather than later over some issue conclusive of its fate.
Gonzalez is just the beginning. Cleaning out liars is a full-time job these days.
