Bill O'Reilly has railed against us. Yesterday, he boasted that he'd take us down. This morning, when I arose, DKos still stood. Yet today, we've put our stamp of approval on acting just like Bill O'Reilly.
Manichean philosophy is supposed to be their burden. Today, a blurb from a popular DKos diarist, featured prominently on today's recommended diary list:
In the end, between Bill O'Reilly and I, one of us is on the side of the angels...
Perhaps not. Perhaps claiming the cloak of all that is good should seem just a wee bit GoOPerish to folk here. This is a purely false choice.
Beyond that, though, many prominent community members have stepped into Bill O'Reilly's personal hog wallow by appending their approval to the diary in question. The tactic involved - showing up in a residential neighborhood for political action - will not convince the neighbors, nor will it convince the fence-sitting putblic.
It's a sad day when we lend our support to such tactics, all in the name of "our side's right". Perhaps we've become numbed by the constant virtual violent threats from the wingnuts, but it's our reputation that's been sullied today.
This community seems strong enough to withstand the self-inflicted wound. I'd have much rather save the penicillin for battle scars earned.
