Greetings, Conventioneers!
We've been here in beautiful Chicago for a few days, and here are our HOT TIPS for your maximum YCK 07 enjoyment...
1. The Wi-Fi Situation
The convention area in the McCormick will have free Wi-Fi available during the Convention. But of course. *Please note that this bounty of free-ness applies only to the Convention area.
You will have to pay $9.95 per day to use Wi-Fi in the hotel lounge areas as well as in your room, which is a wired connection. And if you pay for Internet in one, you will have to pay again for the other, so make the decision whether you want to get online in your room OR the hotel lobby.
2. Comfy Shoes!
The Convention area is really huge-mongous, like the portions they serve you at restaurants here. Let's call it family style. So leave your stilettos in your bag and get ready to power walk between events.
Raven also advises to make sure to keep your baggage load light and your clothes comfy as well. Latex can get soooo chafy after a while, no?
3. Power Walking: Your Break Time is Minimal...
Plan for a fast-paced Convention. Sessions have about 15 minutes between them, and like I said, the Convention area is huge-mongous, gi-normous, stupendous! It's beautiful. Magnificent. a temple.
In order to get you to the sessions on time, you should plan your days in advance and dawdle not or you will be tardy and I can't give everyone hall passes. Got it?
Cuz not only is the Convention BIGGER this year, it's also jam-packed with fabulous offerings. Robyn says you'd practically have to clone yourself to catch all your top program choices!
4. Registration Desk Location
The registration desk is located in the lobby by gate 2 of the McCormick Place Convention Center. If you can't find it, just ask.
5. Party, Party, Unofficial Parties
Donde estan los parties?? There will undoubtedly be lots of unofficial events and parties held during the Convention. If you want to stay in the know, the best way is to follow my blog or by checking the bulletin board near the registration desk.
*If you are hosting an event, definitely post is on the bulletin board. I wanna come! And email Robyn with that event information because she is our official calendar-keeper: robyn@yearlykosconvention.org.
6. Don't Forget Your Biz Cards!
You will make so many friends (up to 2000!), so bring lots of cards or get some personal ones printed up quick.
