to Ralph Nader on behalf of all democrats(except people who live in the real world, like most people supporting JE on this site), if Hillary or Obama get nominated. As soon as they get crushed in the general election, I'm going to shove this petition in their face to sign:
(Post election 2008, where Rudy Giuliani is president)
Dear Ralph,
We're sorry, Ralph. We supported essentially the same kind of hopeless candidacy yours was, except our disillusionment was much worse; there's a war going on, and soldiers are dying every day; we went from a surplus to a deficit. Job growth has declined. Fast Food minimum wage employees are the bread and butter of employment statistics. (Yeehaw! See? I told you unemployment was low!) And no one can afford health care and we chose someone who was a beacon to the privatized insurance industry, to reform health care.
We said so many nasty things about you in 2000, but we wanted the nice blonde lady beholden to special interests. What? Yeah, well she did take their money, but come on? A woman's got to get paid, right? It doesn't mean she doesn't care. It's not like her message to the 600,000 dead Iraqis at the Take Back America Conference. This time she really cares about her mistakes. Oh? Well she won't admit any, but still. Her last name is Clinton. That's something, right Ralph? Ok...OK..I know you warned us about this kind of thing, but didn't you see her Sopranos take off? I love that show! Ok..I'll stop.
(another scenario)Alright Ralph, but Obama could have won. I can't imagine why he didn't win any southern state, not even his own. It's like he's playing to a whole different constituency, or something, right? Oh well. I mean, from the election on "04" we thought it was clear that people have changed, especially in the south. They really were worried about the important issues of the day, which was of course "gay marriage." Well, even though we know that makes no sense, you can sort of see their point right Ralph? Cause theoretically (according to red state voters where HRC or Obama never had a chance), if we stopped gay marriage, the Sunnis and Sh'ites would settle all their differences peacefully.
"They stopped the gays! I love you too!"
Then they thought we would win the war! Of course this goes against our gut feeling on whether she was electable or not, but since we couldn't have Bill we wanted Hill.
Oh well we had some idea that wasn't a fair assessment or realistic, but she's a woman! That's the basis for our decision nominating her! After all, the secretary of state is do.....oh. I'm beginning to see the lack in judgment/logic there. Really, Ralph? You know what? You ruin everything! Why couldn't you just let us dream, Ralph?!!
Ok....ok Ralph, we were really hypocritical to criticize you, when we were just as delusional about our electorate, and at least you still have your principals. We forgot what those were when we decided to not vote for the candidate who didn't take big pharmaceutical/insurance money and was beating all the republican candidates in every poll. We really thought that HRC was the best candidate to be! Can't you see?
Ok, we're really sorry Ralph.
Sincerely,
Delusional democrats of America that lost the second election in a row.
(I'm really doing this for fun, because I love irony. I know I already made this point in another blog. I do think Nader has some blame(but he did recommend to John Kerry that John Edwards be the VP nominee so people at least know who JE is better from that election as opposed to Obama), but not as much as people living in a dream world, while this country is burning before their eyes.
Back then I was young and a Nader leaner, even though I wasn't a voter; (typical, huh?) IT was cool to be apathetic about voting in 2000, but given what happened in Florida, I don't feel bad. That wasn't really Nader's fault. I guess I'm looking for a consensus, so I can maybe send this to all the HRC supporters if this gets positive reviews here. It probably won't, though, but this isn't really a serious format for a blog, it's more silly, but it amuses me. I stand behind the initial point.
I know this is going to piss a lot of people off, but seriously. If you are not one of those democrats who blame Nader for 2000, then I'm not referring to you, but it's extremely hypocritical, for you to blame him, while supporting an equally hopeless candidacy in Hillary or Obama. I will support Obama if he wins, but I won't support her, and neither of them have a chance. This country needs to get over itself first. Gay marriage was the number one issue just a little over 3 1/2 years ago. When homophobia trumps terrorism, you know just how not ready we are for a woman or a black president IMO.
(Racism, homophobia, and sexism are related in southern values voters)
It seems like the one thing democrats could do to lose this election, they are intent on doing. No disrespect to their supporters, but I believe you are supporting a hopeless candidacy, I really do. History(even recent history) is on my side.
I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it.
Let the hate mail, commence.
