I was going to try to watch a DVD on my computer tonight, before I get guests in town and have to give up my office space (which doubles as my guest room), but I can't get the right media player and I just give up. Yeah, I should just go out and get a DVD player for my TV, but that costs time and money, and look what missing a DVD gets me...I do some work online. Not such a loss.
My previous posts have been about West Texas and North Texas
Now, let's turn our eyes in a Southerly direction, and have a look at our Blue Valley. Bear with me on the maps. There are some problems with what's listed in the Wiki, but I've got individual links from the congressional pages.
South Texas (for my purposes, at least) has four races to watch: Districts 14, 15, 27 and 28.
TX-14
The current incumbent is Republican Presidential Candidate, Ron Paul. He likely intends to run for this seat, despite running for Preznit. He got 60.18% to Shane Sklar's 39.82% in 2006, but has two Republican Primary opponents. Currently, there is no declared Democratic Challenger.
Anybody out there willing to take on the task? I think it's an excellent opportunity, while he's not campaigning actively for the seat.
TX-15
Incumbent Democrat Ruben Hinojosa is running again. He stomped the competition in 2006, despite being re-redistricted, and has two R challengers. The same guys who ran in 2006.
Here's the current map, from Ruben's Congressional Page

TX-27
Solomon Ortiz is the Democratic Incumbent. He's currently facing only potential challengers in Wiki, and they are the holdovers from the 2006 race. No official competition yet. May it stay that way.

TX-28
Saving the best for last, it's time for TX-28, Henry Cuellar.
He currently faces no challengers from either party, but I suspect that it won't stay that way for long. Cuellar was one of Four Texas Democratic Congressmen who buckled under pressure and voted to amend FISA. He is regularly labeled a DINO, and I expect that someone will make a stand against him before the filing deadline. The boundaries were affected by re-redistricting, so it's got some new ground in 2008.
Here's the 2006 site. It doesn't look like 2008 is together yet.
There you have it. I've got some guests coming to town tomorrow, so I won't be able to write much. Thanks for stopping by!
