About the senator's recent remarks about Pakistan
"There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al-Qa'eda leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will" (Barak Obama)
So now one of the leading democrats must sound like Mr. Bush in order to prove his tough stance on terrorism. The outcome, a possible deployment of US arsenal and troops in Pakistan. I am, as my earlier blogs suggest, no fan of Musharraf's dictatorship, but this irresponsible statment by Mr. Obama has revealed to me the extreme shallowness of American politics and poverty of Mr. Obama's own knowledge of the international politcs. American presidents--including Regan, Bush I, Clinton and Bush II--have always underwrtitten their domestic policy by proving their toughness abroad. In the process Libya, Iraq, Serbia, and Iraq had been the places where their "toughness" policies materialized. Now Mr. Obama also has shown his willingness to join this elite club of tough "invaders" and "crusaders" if, God forbid, he is elected as the US president.
I think it will be a great disservice to America and the wrold if someone with such a naive and reckless policy vision is elected as the US president. In fact one of his campaign staff, while talking to one of my feriends for campaign donations, explained the senator's remarks by suggesting thst they envisioned precise strikes on "actionabale" intelligence. The fact that these strikes will be carried out in the territories of a strong US ally in the region and might enhance the popular hatred for the US seems to have been no of great concern.
So, MR. Obama, please wake up and know the wrold around you before you take up the role of the "invader-crusader-decider" etc.
After reading your commnets:
Any action by a US government that destabilizes Pakistan is not in the long-term US interest.
Pakistan Army has lost hundreds of its troops in the Waziristan region.
Pakistan should not be expected to create in its own territories a perpetual warzone, especially if the war can--as is happeningn now--spread to the Pakistani cities.
The popular Pakistani response to any such strikes will stem from the issues of Pakistani Sovereignty and not necessarily from sympathy for terrorists.
Those of you who would like to align me with one particular candidate should be rest assured that I do not follow any of then uncritically, nor would I defend their actions and thoughts at all costs. If Mr. Obama shows inadequate intellestual depth about complex international issues, then we must point it out right now so that he can learn while in the process of becoming a world leader.
