he did it! just hit the 756 home run in s.f. and is the new king of baseball!
i can't help but wonder how much sooner this day would have come had the opposing teams not consistently walked bonds. that the opposition teams consistently did so makes me wonder about the real issues here - the need to win or the skill of the game. which is more important?
as for the controversy over steroids, bonds has repeatedly been tested and found clean of them - yet the determination to smear his accomplishments has continued.
the lack of sportsmanship in l.a. this week with the booing of bonds whenever he came to the plate bothered me to no end.
what has happened to our sense of fair play? good sportsmanship?
IS winning everything? is that what is wrong with our political system? our corporate system?
does bonds represent all of this?
or is he simply a fantastic athelete who just got cheered rousingly as he broke hank aaron's record.
what ever is said from here on out - the record is his (for now) and i hope he savors this accomplishment. i wish him well!
