The 'Liberal Media' (sarcasm) is calling for another 9-11 to end all this nasty debate about the selling out of civil liberties in the name of security. They suggest we should all just line up and let our wise and benevolent leaders take care of it.
The only problem is that the kind of thing he's talking about is more indicative of Hitler's Nazi Germany, Italy under Mussolini, Russia under Stalin, or Spain under Franco.
What if a truly liberal publication or commentator had suggested that he 'wanted another 9-11' for the purposes of proving that America is not safer under George W. Bush's draconian policies? One can scarcely imagine the ferocity of the backlash and vitriol that would be aimed that unfortunate souls way. And it would be well deserved.
This author states:
If it is to be, then let it be. It will take another attack on the homeland to quell the chattering of chipmunks and to restore America's righteous rage and singular purpose to prevail.
I don't feel like a chipmunk. I feel like a citizen in a country where everyone is supposed to be equal under the law, where I have the freedom to call this person a fucking idiot for taking hyperbole too far to make a point that is antithetical to our Constitution, to engage in legitimate dissent or even civil disobedience, and where the government works for me. Remember that "of the people, by the people, and for the people' quaint little homily?
So let me take a moment to address the author of this cheap article written for shock value and sensational purposes:
Mr. Bykofsky, I'd like to take this opportunity to ask with all sincerity and due respect that you kindly go fuck yourself.
