I was 16 or 17 when Magic Johnson helped Michigan State University win the NCAA basketball championship in 1979. He gave a real shot in the arm to my home state when it needed it badly, and I still find it impossible to NOT smile whenever I see his grin. He seems like a genuinely decent guy and I’ve still got a lot of respect for him and his talents.
So I was pleased to read about a Clinton fundraiser he’ll soon hold - he had this to say about it...
"We need a winner as our next President of the United States - someone that can help realistically improve relations in the world, someone that will work to provide affordable and accessible health care, and someone that is simply a strong leader," Johnson said in a campaign statement. "I know that's Hillary Clinton." Link

Hillary was also recently endorsed by music great, Quincy Jones, who’ll be hosting a $1,000 a plate fundraiser for her on Sept. 14th, along with Motown founder Berry Gordy and former Motown Chairman Clarence Avant.
You can see a video Jones made recently, explaining why he chose to back Hillary’s run for the White House HERE

I saw the above videos before and hesitated to post anything about this, given that I’m a white woman. I thought I’d leave it to someone from the AA community to shed light on these recent endorsements.
However, when I saw that Magic was endorsing Hillary, I had to say "yay Magic!". I’ve been a fan of Magic’s since my friend in East Lansing sent me letters (snail mail – you know... the old fashioned way?) with magic this and go magic that all over her envelopes. It was an exciting time in Michigan and I’m glad to see Magic’s doing well. I’m still a fan of his 28 years on and I hope he keeps on rockin’.
Way to go Magic – you’ve done us proud!

At any rate, I thought these recent endorsements and the fundraisers were worth mentioning. She’s gaining support across the board and I’m really impressed at the way she’s running her campaign so far. If she gets the nomination and keeps this up I’m certain we’ll regain the White House next November.
