There's been a great deal of discussion about insurance, in the blogosphere, lately, and it's obvious that people are very upset by recent news about the industry. Unfortunately, a lot of the discussion has been rather un- or misinformed.
I'm a former insurance industry employee (emphasis on 'former') and I'm wondering if the community might be interested in an objective discussion about insurance basics and the industry, and/or a basic analysis of some of the recent news that's come out.
I should emphasize that I'm not involved with the industry now and my intent is not to defend the industry. I just hate to see people so riled up, when they're not receiving accurate or complete information.
Would anybody be interested in learning some basics about policies and how the industry operates? I've been out of the insurance game for a few years but I can certainly do my best to demystify and explain some of the basics. If so, I'll put together a diary and do my best to help people understand the industry and recent events a little better.
