In a surprise move, six-term Third District U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss., announced today he will not seek re-election in 2008.
Pickering said he wanted to devote more time to his family in Flora.

The 3rd went 65/34 for Bush in 2004. But hey, it's a special election, you don't know what can happen.

UPDATE: Why yes, I do have to rewrite most of this.
But anyways.. at least someone will run here (which wasn't the case in 2004 and 2006).
As well, there may be some state-legislature Democrats willing to run for this seat so soon after re-election.
