I stopped online today for only a few moments and stumbled across the most incredible video of a Canadian protest. What I saw was so stunning that I had to write a quick diary and share it with you immediately.
The police in Montebello, Canada were squaring off in a line against the peaceful demonstrators when 3 men wearing bandana face masks approached the police line in a threatening manner with large rocks in their hands. The Union leader immediately intervened and began yelling at the men to put down their rocks and leave because it was a peaceful demonstration. The 3 masked men did not relent, but the Union leader kept on them. And then someone in the crowd realizes that the 3 men aren't protesters, but rather cops acting as provocateurs. The demonstrators begin calling the men out and demanding they remove their masks. Once it began clear that the jig was up, the 3 men pushed their way into the police line where they promptly (and rather gently) arrested and hauled away.
Where's the proof they were police? Jump below and watch the stunning amateur video for yourself.
Still need proof they were police provocateurs? Take a look at the picture below of them being arrested. What a coincidence that the 3 violent protesters also happen to all have the exact same boots as the police.
I found this photo at CUPE National Gallery where several other photos of the boots and the incident can be found.
And, I just found this tidbit about a press conference by the Union this afternoon:
News advisory - News conference on "arrest" of phony demonstrators
OTTAWA, Aug. 22 CNW Telbec - Video footage of the arrest of police
officers posing as demonstrators at Montebello, August 20, will be shown today
at a news conference at the offices of the Communications, Energy and
Paperworkers Union of Canada. "We have proof that the three individuals who
were "arrested" after being exposed as "agents provocateurs" were, in fact,
members of the Quebec police force," says CEP President Dave Coles, and we
plan to do what it takes to bring this matter to justice." CEP
Secretary-Treasurer Gaétan Ménard, Barb Byers of the CLC and Council of
Canadians President Maude Barlow will also be in attendance.

The whole thing is surreal and makes me wonder about the riots in Seattle and elsewhere. Those cops were ready for a fight and they were determined to get one.
It seems as if the Montebello and Canadian police are going to have quite a lot to answer for in the next few days.
