I know at least one member of this nation (Caldonia) is aware of the father of Rhythm and Blues, Louis (pronounced luwee) Jordan.
Following in the path set by Unitary Moonbat, I want to try to introduce American artists that perhaps few have heard of, perhaps many (some will be quite famous, some will appear to be anecdotal) at least until i get tired of doing so.
More below the fold...
People I'll feature will probably be southern but not exclusively--
It's just that southern influence on American music has been and continues to be strong. Yes, there is an urban dynamic, and a Michigan dynamic to hip hop (unappreciated by either coast.. but still there)... but its roots are pure southern.
So-- join me in a few songs from Louis Jordan, who will be my first report, if the community is interested... and dedicated to member Caldonia, also! (author's note, we have never met in person, so I can't say if the Kos Caldonia has grat big feet OR a big hard head...)
Also, since these have been covered, you might not know the originals
next...
and finally:
If you want more, let me know, I will write about their biographies. I think it's important... but you let me know.
