Democratic Leadership Beware!
2 in 10 trust ‘neither party’ on Iraq
For the latest demonstration of The People’s anger, consider the recent Washington Post ABC poll.
A majority (53%) anticipate General Petraeus will lie about progress in Iraq. I take this as yet another example of how Bush has murdered trust for generations to come, not just trust in politicians but also trust in our military leaders.
If we don't trust General Petraeus, why would we trust the Democratic ‘surge protectors’ in Congress! (Brian Baird, so popular with the rightwing wurlizer, comes to mind.)
The People want their Armed Services rescued from Iraq, and they know who is lying when you say the surge is working.
Congress has lower approval ratings (18%) than Bush’s 32%. I think it's because people expected the Democratic House and Senate to get our troops out of Iraq.
Democrats in Congress may find their approval ratings tumbling lower if they ignore the fact that 55 percent support a deadline to get our troops out by next spring.
We want our troops rescued from Iraq. House Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid should be concerned that 20% said they trust neither party to get our troops out of Iraq. I expect this ‘trust neither party’ number to surge when the House and Senate fund more war in Iraq without setting exit deadlines.
By not taking steps to stop it, Pelosi and Reid will own the war along with Bush, who will retire safely, leaving them and us holding the bag.
I didn’t expect corrupt Republicans to prevent the war with Iraq. I expected the Democrats to do it. They didn’t. Democrats were given majorities in 2006 to stop the war. To our shame, they haven't.
People are going to hate both parties in 2008. If I were a rich, evil Republican, I would fund a lot of faux 'Independents'.
