Hey y'all! The March on Washington to end the Iraq War is coming up this Saturday. Make your plans at Road2DC.
THIS IS A ROLL CALL! Are you coming to Washington D.C. this Saturday? If you are coming, please respond in the comments! Let's see how big a group we are! Plus it's just plain fun to see who all is coming!
Or are you still "maybe"? Let us know why in the comments and maybe we can all brainstorm and make it work out for you!
dK MEET-UP for the MARCH: The dK contingent will begin gathering at 11 a.m. at the site of the National Christmas tree (15th & E), and make our way over to the beginning of the march, which begins at noon. Wear something orange!
Here's a map of the route with our meeting spot marked (thanks, Got a Grip!):
Lots more info and fun stuff just over there. 1 .. 2 .. 3.. Jump!
UPDATE from jlynne:
looks like we can meetup with DU too.
A group from DU is gathering at the corner of 15th and I streets at 11:00 (one block north of Lafayette Park), they have invited the kossacks to join them:
join up with us -- we're going to start gathering at 11, but the march won't get started until after noon, so you can probably find us at that corner. Together we can form a nice block of the netroots marching together!
Also feel free to invite the Kossacks to the Hawk & Dove on Friday night.
The Friday night meet up is scheduled for:
7 p.m. - whenever
Hawk & Dove
329 Pennsylvania Ave. SE
Washington, DC 20003

RIDE SHARING: If you're coming to the march and can offer a ride, or if you need a ride, please post in the comments, and also register at Road2DC and make your offer/request known there.
BUSES: There are buses being organized from around the country. Get info and sign up here. Buy tickets online for buses from NYC (multiple locations) here.
One of the incredible things about this march is that it is bringing together both perfect strangers and friends and family, who all want to stand together and make our voices heard loudly and in the flesh! jlynne, the inventrix of Road2DC, (thank you, jlynne!) and a group of other fine progressive Americans are making the road-trip from out west, picking up people along the way, and they'll be documenting it along the way, here and at Road2DC. From jlynne:
Road2DC is going to become the next hit reality show. Want to know what happens when you put six total strangers in a mini-van and drive across country to protest a War? Does jlynne actually travel with a coffee IV stuck in her arm? Will skippythebox turn out to be an axe murderer from the heartland? Is Progressive Voice really an undercover agent provocateur? Stick with us and find out. In the next few days, we’ll introduce you to the "cast." Every chance we get, we will post from the Road, and others will be here to report on our progress. We will share with you the good, the bad and the ugly, from beginning to end, with pictures.
Subscribe to the RSS feed. Follow our progress. Witness our success. And then join the next Road2DC tour yourselves. When Congress diddles with whether it should force the President to make a withdrawal plan that doesn’t actually require withdrawal, it’s time to get pissed and DO something. I predict that before this is over, kos himself will join us in the streets.
HOW TO BE THERE IN SPIRIT:
- Leave a comment and we will add your name to our signs. We hope to add hundreds and hundreds of names!
- Consider making a donation to help fund someone who wants to go but is very short on funds. Visit the donation thread at Road2DC or leave a comment her about your desire to make a donation
- Be local in the flesh! Find a local event on September 15th. Or create one yourself! Protest your way, even in the most "minimal" way. If you know of a local event, leave info in a comment.
SIGNS:
While there are often signs available at protests, you should definitely BYO. And bring extras! Work that community spirit! Maybe you could put a a big orange dK on the back of your sign, so we can find each other.

KEEPING IN TOUCH:
- Be sure to exchange phone numbers with some folks, so you can keep in touch in D.C. and find one another. Do I need to say, do NOT put your phone number in a comment, unless ...
- Join our email list to keep up to date on the latest. If you want to be on the list please email: admin@road2dc.com
- Don't forget cards if you've got 'em or whatever else you want to share with dKers. And DO NOT forget your camera and to charge the batteries and bring extras! Let us blow this orange place out with a slew of irresistible photo diaries!
It will be a true surge of power when we all amass in Washington. I cannot wait to see y'all. And whether you're there or not, protest on September 15th.
Also, don't forget, September 21st kicks off Iraq War Moratorium Day. Break your routine and protest. It doesn't matter if you're not the protesting type. Find the right type of protesting for you. But make yourself heard.
To keep up the momentum and build up this activist spirit, sign up at Road2DC, which is a forum and blog not just for this protest, but an ongoing project to build a community-driven activist hub.
Stand up.
Witness.
Speak clearly and with the force of justice and reason.
Let us end this war.
And that is all she wrote.
