The NFL is investigating allegations that a New England Patriots employee was caught with a video camera in an apparent attempt to steal signals from the New York Jets sidelines on Sunday
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick defended his team after allegations were raised about a cameraman trying to steal signals from the New York Jet's sideline during the match between the teams on Sunday. While declining to elaborate on alledged spying via videotape on grounds that it would be inappropriate to comment while there was an ongoing investigation, the New England coach said that even if proven, such actions were justified under the provisions of the Patriot Act. "9-11 changed everything." a clearly annoyed Bellichick said. "We have to have newer, faster tools so that we can ferret out our enemy's communications and foil their schemes. We are talking about defense of our great nation in the global war on the Je... uuhhmmm, terror."
Belichick elaborated that with the nation's security on the line, traditional methods such as studying opposition's tendencies and reading formations and personnel moves were painfully cumbersome and inadequate. "Do you realize the consequences if Coleman (Jets Free Safety) comes through unencumbered on a blitz? The results could be catastrophic to this team and to the nation." Bellichick said. The coach then went on a long, rambling talk about supporting the Brady bill.
Belichick and G W Bush are both Phillips Academy graduates. Granted they are separated by several years, but could there be a link here?
