Flanking a disapointingly and misleadingly titled article Bush to back troop reduction on page two of todays Daily Herald (suburban Chicago) are two stories about heads of state getting their comeupance. Leaving aside the fact that Bush's so-called 'reduction' in troops is actually a return to pre-surge levels, join me after the jump for the humerously co-located articles ...
To the left of the Bush article is this one - Japan's prime minister to resign. The story includes quotes which apply (or should apply) to Bush:
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, whose year-old government has suffered a string of damaging scandals and a humiliating electoral defeat, has told ruling party leaders he intends to resign, an official said Wednesday.
and
Abe, whose support rating has fallen to 30 percent, said he was stepping down because he lacked the power to rally people together, NHK quoted LDP Secretary-General Taro Aso as telling reporters.
On the other side of the page is this article - Ex-president of Philippines gets life term. I especially like the following quote - "Estrada was convicted of plunder". Why don't we have a statute outlawing 'plunder'? I love that!
