- CT-04: Shays says "waaaa waaaa waaaa".
Rep. Christopher Shays said today he will not seek another congressional term unless House Republican leaders support his bid for the job of top GOP member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
He is meeting with leaders and other key members now.
If they do not give him significant backing "I'm absolutely not going to run," said Shays, who said he is giving no one any deadlines.
It doesn't really matter. As the last sitting Republican House member in all of New England, this is his last year in office.
- Can CBS and Katie Couric sink any lower? What a disaster. Apparently, parroting Bush talking points in her "journalistic" trip to Iraq didn't do anything except lead to the network's worst ratings ever.
- Try not to act too shocked:
Following President Bush's address to the nation on Iraq, Fox was the only broadcast network not to air the Democratic response. Instead, Shepard Smith gave a short description of the response and stated: "Our coverage continues on the Fox News Channel on cable and satellite with the Democratic response and more. Right now, back to your local Fox programming." ABC, NBC, and CBS all aired the Democratic response.
Of course ABC, NBC, and CBS aired the Democratic response. They are not propaganda mouthpieces of a major political party.
- Blue Cross is a bunch of assholes. Single payer NOW! (Long, frustrating story. But short of it, they're horrible, horrible people. And all of this after nearly doubling our insurance premiums this last year alone for apparently LESS coverage.)
[Upate:] I love the web: Sick of Blue Cross.
- Young Republicans and "personal responsibility" don't go hand in hand.
- Howie Kurtz, media critic: It's okay that Fox misinforms its public!
- Joe Lieberman -- the progressive Democrats' biggest weapon.
Lieberman's lack of political capital can be utilized for any race he chooses to get involved in. We've already seen Senate Challenger Tom Allen invoke Lieberman's support of incumbent Susan Collins with great results. Joe Lieberman could easily become one of the best weapons in the progressive Dem infrastructure's arsenal. Who will Joe help next?
