When asked at today's press briefing about the recent oil exploration agreement between Dallas-based Hunt Oil and the semi-autonomous Kurdish government in northern Iraq, President Bush denied any knowledge of the deal prior to its being signed. (I was going to link to the video at whitehouse.gov, but it has just been taken off the site).
The agreement, which allows major Bush campaign donor/organizer and Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board member Ray Hunt's privately-held company to drill for oil in Iraq's Kurdish region, has been called "illegal" by Iraq's oil minister, Hussain al-Shahristani, has been cited as a cause of the recent breakdown in negotiations for Iraq's national oil revenue-sharing legislation.
Dennis Kucinich asked on September 18 for an investigation into the deal.
