I am worried that Gore will not run, but deep down I believe that he will.
At the Emmy Awards Al Gore dropped a hint in relation to Current, saying:
"More to come. Next month. Current.com"
He appeared on Jay Leno and mentioned a new launch on October 15th of Current.com, promising it will revolutionize how individuals use the web and television by promoting democratic participation.
Then on September 17th, Al Gore and his partner Joel Hyatt were interviewed by SF Gate, and Gore upped the ante considerably.
Find out how below the fold...
At 3:20 left to go in the SF Gate interview on September 17th, after several teasers already regarding the launch of Current.com on October 15th, the conversation turns to politics and the 2008 election.
SF Gate: "Speaking of political stuff, how do you see Current covering the election?"
Al Gore: "We’re gonna have an announcement later on about a very special initiative that we are going to launch in connection with this election cycle... uh... but again, you can probably file that one under that same heading "Teaser".
SF Gate: "Teaser. This is full of Teasers today."
Al Gore: "We are getting dangerously close to the Teaser saturation level."
Then the interviewer brings up the Nobel Peace Prize and asks Al a question about whether Al will announce one way or the other after the Nobel, and Al ignores the question by answering as if the question was about his chances of winning the Nobel Peace prize itself. I don't think Al misunderstood the question.
SF Gate: "Next month, Mr. Vice President, you could win the Nobel Peace Prize, and we know what’s going to happen if you do. Will you be...uh, Will there be any special announcements one way or the other after that? ...about your other project?"
Al Gore: "That’s a double barreled hypothetical!"
Al Gore: "Hold on. Hold on. Wait a minute... uh, I’m sorry I had to shut off my hubris alarm."
SILENCE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS
SF Gate: "You're not going there at all?"
Al Gore: "Uh... I don’t... You know it was an honor to be nominated but its not something that I want to speculate about its, uh, uh, most unlikely to, uh, uh, I mean I just don’t want to speculate about something like that."
I think this is a shift in Al Gore's rhetoric. Let's not let up our efforts now.

Gore traveled to Australia and gave a speech that criticized the climate policies of Bush and Howard. Gore appeared with and strongly supported members of the opposition Labor party, weeks before Australian elections. The US and Australia are the two main opponents to global climate treaties. Gore may be trying to get a climate conscious Australian government in power so that he can have a strong partner when he has to rally global support for the challenging effort that is before us. The crisis that seeks a true leader... and that leader is Al Gore. President of the United States, Al Gore. Send your Two Cents to Al to urge him to run and be a part of history.
