Prostitute-loving Senator David Vitter (R-La.) was able to sneak in a $100,000 earmark for a group of political buddies that opposes the teaching of evolution into a recent bill.
UPI -
The money is set aside for the Louisiana Family Forum in the labor, health and education financing bill for fiscal 2008, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Sunday. The group is being paid "to develop a plan to promote better science education."
The forum is slated to use the funds to write a report on ways to improve science education in Louisiana, but critics say support for the group -- which once produced a "battle plan" to fight the idea of evolution -- is really support for religious teaching in public schools.
According to the UPI report, two of the group’s leaders were paid consultants to Vitter’s 2005 Senate campaign and the group has been one of Vitter's strongest supporters, supporting him even when he admitted recently he was the customer of a call-girl service. So in other words, typical right-wing hypocrits, even though Vitter is no pro-family guy, he's going to give them money. Almost shows like a pay off with taxpayer dollars.
Not apparently the bill that contains the earmark has not been voted on by the Senate, so there is time. So we need to get some attention to this labor, health and education financing bill for fiscal 2008. Anyone know which committee this may go through?
