Bush comes across as a proponent of malignant narcissism. In the words of a Halliburton spokesman, "Iraq has been better than expected." Bush and his friends believe that life is about power and money. But the human soul is little impressed with their ravings. Life is about the soul.
The blues -- born in America -- mirror a soul with all imperfections. This girl Amy Winehouse is Cockney England's wonderful gift to the blues. Recalling Lightning Hopkins and Edith Piaf.... Amadeus. A blessing.
BTW: the masterpiece so far from Winehouse is an unplugged, barely planned throw-off at AOL's DL Show.
From about the point where the camera moves closer, the kid loses it. Blues perfection. Compare with a wildly spectacular piece from classical. Bear up for the 2-minute intro. The soprano needs to rest her pipes for what is coming:
Diana Damrau has every talent we can imagine for a singer. But does her Queen of the Night hold a candle to Winehouse's "Valerie" at full flight ??? Which piece, indeed, is more human ?
Winehouse and/or Damrau make George Bush look sick. They are geniuses. He's the lifelong loser.
