Don’t get me wrong, the Daily Kos and The Huffington Post are great blogs and America benefits from having them. It is blogs like The Progressive Connection and Firedoglake that are the problem. It is all or nothing with them. If McNerney doesn’t completely adhere to their every demand, they make him walk the plank. Blinded by their own self-interests, progressives attack him like sharks. Can you progressives give the brother a break?! Can you take some time to understand the realities of his district? Can you take the time to understand his circumstances? Can you appreciate the fact that he chatted with the progressive bloggers for a couple hours, unlike 100% of the politicians in American? Do you know what the alternative to McNerney will be? Lets get back down to earth people.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

thought it was snark, until I read this diarist's ONE COMMENT, and this is not quite a first diary. I really don't know what to make of thes, fortunately, troll diary is no longer an acceptable tag.

All I know is, from McNerney, I want my money back.

By getting rid of Pombo last year.  I can understand the dimensions of his district (I live in a nearby district) but he will never be loved by progressives.

I do know this... as election day gets closer, and we start counting how many Representatives will be voting in the caucus to re-elect our Speaker of the House, people will suddenly be happy to have McNerney again.

In the short term, he is a solid Democratic Representative.  In the long term... well, I'll go with the Darcy Burner mantra of more and better Democrats in Congress.

should say it all.  This fucking douchebag didn't even wait six months to start licking Bush's asscrack and selling his constituency down the river.

If the netroots doesn't learn to start holding people like Jerry McNerney accountable, we're going to see an ever-increasing trend of carpetbaggers promising progressive change so they can get our donations, then voting like Joe Lieberman when they get into office.

I'm sure it will go over well in McNerney's district.

  •  he was a real jerk on FDL last month or so (0+ / 0-)

Nobody made him show up there.  If he didn't want to answer to FDL he could have just said he was too busy.  Instead he spun a reel of manipulative crap and sound bites and expected it to go over (it didn't).  He said he wanted to "emphasize" that the dems needed a veto proof majority to get a timeline.  What bullshit, "emphasize" means saying we basically agree on various points and this one is especially important.  But the whole point of the discussion was that we disagree about that notion.  So if he said ok, here are my reasons for thinking this and I guess it means we have a respectful disagreement, that's fine.  Instead he tried to slip that past us as if we were idiots.

I was fine with giving him a fair hearing at that discussion but he completely blew it and I lost interest in him then.

  •  You're Right (0+ / 0-)

I gave Jer a couple of hundred bucks last year.  That was to get rid of Pombo more than anything else.  A friend who was a bigger contributor had breakfast with him and reported that Jerry wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but, hey, anything to defeat Pombo.

So I never thought that McNerney would necessarily adhere to all my political beliefs.

Now McNerney is an incumbent and wants to represent his district.  Let his district fund him. I wish McNerney well, but my money will go to people like Charlie Brown, Darcey Burner and Mark Pera this cycle.

The blogosphere should pretty much ignore McNerney this cycle and focus on getting new Democrats, and better Democrats elected to Congress.  That is unless a better Democrat comes along to challenge McNerney in the primary (which I doubt will happen).

By the way, you won't really get very far trying to draw a distinction between dKos and FDL.  People here see it pretty much the same way Jane and company do.

This aggression will not stand, man.

  •  No wonder Democrats can't keep the majority (0+ / 0-)
Every time a Democratic lawmaker has one thing that they disagree with someone on people turn against them. Then we lose the seat, and are left wondering what happened.

Stop eating your own! Allow for some differences, some diversity (not just racial or preferential, but  diversity of opinion and philosophical differences as well.

McNerney's is a targeted seat by the Republicans, and if we continue to let these issues divide us we'll end up with Dean Andal.
