I read on Truthout that Chevron (aka Unocal) is behind the Myanmar military junta that is currently making a totalitarian mess out of Burma.
How is it therefore possible that Chevron is one of this blog's advertisers?? You guys are surely aware of this???
See, THIS is how the Republicans are screwing us. They lie by omission and we end up investing in companies that further their causes and we end up screwing ourselves. We bitch and froth ourselves into a hissy fit and then, through a combination of our ignorance and their deceit, end up financing the very same heinous shit we're bitching about.
The "Buy Blue" project was so cool, although I know it's defunct now. The Sierra Club is a good start. Global Exchange is a good start. We need more of this. It's no longer enough to bitch and vent. It's no longer enough to even propagate information. We need to start acting on that information.
There are corporate alliances backed by private mercenary armies, busily raping parts of the third world. They're no longer even pretending to hold back, and it's only a matter of time before they come for us. In the meantime, the 75% of the country that thinks Bush is doing a suck-ass job ignorantly continues to vote for it with their wallets.
We have to start fighting back now, economically and peacefully, while we still can. We need our own trustworthy corporate alliances. We need to implement our OWN grassroots economic sanctions.
Anyone have news of such things being built or already established, besides those I have mentioned?
