I Got the News Today (1/11/2007 Edition). Yesterday, the Department of Defense announced the names of four soldiers killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  According to the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count the number of names released by the DoD is now 3008 and there are eleven more names of the deceased awaiting notification of the next of kin before being publicly released.

On one side are those who believe in freedom and moderation. On the other side are extremists who kill the innocent and have declared their intention to destroy our way of life.

DoD Identifies Marine Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Aron C. Blum, 22, of Tucson, Ariz., died Dec. 28 at Naval Medical Center, San Diego, Calif., of a non-hostile cause after being evacuated from Al Anbar province, Iraq, on Dec. 8.  Blum was assigned to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 352, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. James M. Wosika Jr., 24, of St. Paul, Minn., died Jan. 9 in Fallujah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit while on combat patrol.  Wosika was assigned to the 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, 136th Infantry, Crookston, Minn.

Spc. Eric T. Caldwell, 22, of Salisbury, Md., died Jan 7 in Iraq of wounds sustained when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire.  He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Even if our new strategy works exactly as planned, deadly acts of violence will continue and we must expect more Iraqi and American casualties.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Raymond N. Mitchell, III, 21, of West Memphis, Ark., died Jan 6 in Baghdad, Iraq of wounds sustained during route security operations.  He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

ABC News has learned that the "surge" Bush is expected to announce in a prime time speech tonight has already begun. Ninety advance troops from the 82nd Airborne Division arrived in Baghdad Wednesday.

    Is there a group that benefits by his actions? You imply that only the forces of darkness will benefit.

    I'm not sure they will. In the long run Big Oil, Halliburton, the Neo-cons, the haves and Have Mores, Republicans and fundy religion will all be discredited and destroyed by the consequences.

    People are already starting to use the word Republican the way they used to use SNAFU or FUBAR.

    I wonder if his legacy will be that the investigations that follow will lift the veil from all the things that are wrong with government as we know it.
