Within 2 weeks the U.S. Army will very likely issue a formal "Record of Decision" to go forward with the Stryker Combat Brigade for Hawaii despite widespread public opposition expressed throughout the entire Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process. The EIS was a legal requirement but the process was a complete fraud. Hawaii's senior senator, Daniel Inouye, said on June 18, 2003, months before the EIS public hearings, that he was assured "Hawaii will get its Stryker Brigade."
For dKos readers, we humbly request a bit of help with our own military occupation in Hawaii. Please express your opposition for the record, before July 5th, 2004. Address your comments to Ms. Cindy Barger, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu Engineering District, Building 230, Ft. Shafter, HI 96858. Telephone 808-438-4812. Email sbct_eis@usace.army.mil.
