I am increasingly reading comments on progressive blogs that suggest we are FAR too overconfident as 04 heats up. The idea that victory is "inevitable" as some posts have recently stated is absurd. In fact the evidence suggests we have quite an uphill battle ahead of us.
The recent Gallup poll (http://www.gallup.com/content/default.asp?ci=10558) found that after a brief respite of almost daily-negative news, the Bush administration is back beating Kerry in an hypothetical match up (by 1 point, and well within the margin of error though). Moreover, the Bush campaign has yet to pour any of its millions into an ad war blitzkrieg. Worse yet, the promised big bucks from the pro-Democratic 527s are not materializing (see http://thehill.com/news/021104/money.aspx).
Have we lost touch in the echo chamber just as conservatives did in 95-96 in the right-wing talk radio world?
