Now that Joementum has made his intentions known, we can rest assured that Al From and his DLC cronies will forcefully back Joe's lifeboat plan.
But what of Mark Warner?
Hillary has already jumped ship, apparently, declaring that she'll support the Dem nominee.
There goes one DLC-connected `08 hopeful.
Warner is also heavily connected to the DLC. (Nevermind the rest of the amazingly large DLC '08 hopeful list: Evan Bayh, Joe Biden, Bill Richardson and Tom Vilsack.) But Warner has been actively courting the "lunatic fringe" (Al From sure is a witty guy). So will Warner come clean and follow in Hillary's footsteps? Does he have a choice at this point?
Was Hillary's statement a pre-emptive strike on Warner?
My guess is that Warner will follow Hillary's lead. Will this lead to an actual splintering of the DLC? (One can only hope.)
Someone needs to ask Warner this question immediately: Mark, will you back the Dem nominee for U.S. Senate in Connecticut if that nominee is Ned Lamont? (Perhaps Warner has already answered this question, but I am not aware of his answer if he has.)
