I Got the News Today (1/28/2007 Edition). Yesterday, the Department of Defense announced the names of one soldier killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. According to the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count the number of names released by the DoD is now 3,067 and there are 11 more names of the deceased awaiting notification of the next of kin before being publicly released.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pfc. Nathan P. Fairlie, 21, of Candor, N.Y., died of injuries suffered in Baqubah on Jan. 26 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Bradley Fighting Vehicle during combat operations.
Fairlie was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
His favorite color was purple. His favorite animal was the hippo. He last checked into his myspace page on Jan. 22, 2007.
