Is Hotmail down?

Please find it in your heart to forgive me for bumping a diary off the page but since no one else has been able to confirm it from anyone I have spoken with: is Hotmail currently down?

I've not been able to access Hotmail since late last night.

    •  Make Sure

      You're security settings are medium. If you put your security settings in your browser to what Microsoft itself recomends in Explorer, Hotmail won't work. Also enable javascript and all of that. If you have any of those security-oriented plugins available for Firefox I've noted those can gum up over time so try disabling those.

              Is it your computer? Or do you have rights on it? Because then you could install Firefox or Explorer 7 which might well magically clear this up.

              Potentially an administrator for the campus may have inadvertantly blocked hotmail.

              Well in any case, assuming it's not a terminal where access to this might be locked like a library, go through the internet options and clear everything while restoring everything else to default, with the medium security setting.

      •  I noticed that when

        I put in additional security, hotmail wouldn't work (believe it would not accept the password).  I had to go tp my filter controls and type in hotmail's address to specifically allow hotmail to post.  If it comes to it, try using another computer and see if you have the same problem.

          I believe it's because when you enter the password that is directed to an address with a different name to verify (login.live.com at the moment), and then the mail page loads automatically. That's because unauthorized redirects are a BAD THING. If I could find a browser/plugin that would simply disallow those, or ask for confirmation on each, I'd be very happy.

      I had Hotmail a while ago, I bailed when they "upgraded" me to more storage against my will, then charged my Visa for it and wouldn't refund it.

      They can all rot in hell over at hotmail.

        my sorta I might wanna look at this mail goes to gmail, and whenever I dislike or don't trust someone, a company, the government, I send them to hotmail.

        The spam filter is set to dump almost everyone, and I still get tons of garbage.

            Here is one for ya.  I was installing XP Pro on a friend's comp last week, and it was of course hooked to a cable modem.

            BEFORE I finished installation (pre sp2), I had spam popping up on the bloody screen.  Apparently it's like, hi, unprotected computer, wham!

            Scary scary.
