In reference to the many threads here regarding Rahm Emanuel's position on funding the troops, in particular, his appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher:

AUDIENCE MEMBER: Bring them home! [voices overlap]
MAHER: But—but—
EMANUEL: No, no, wait a second. I’m all for bringing them home. You want to know how you bring them home? We need a new president, because this president will not—[applause] [voices overlap]—that’s what we need to do.
Although I opppose the war, we have to exercise some political realism here. As long as the President is a RethugliKKKlan, he can veto any bill that mandates troop withdrawal.
I also think that the Rahm-bashing here has got to stop. It was thanks to his strategy in the 2006 elections that the Democrats now control the House of Representatives. And for that, I am and so should everyone here in the kos community be eternally grateful for that.
I also agree that we should work that much harder to get a Democratic President elected, whether it be Hillary, Obama or Edwards. It would be nice if we could get a 'candidate of conviction' with pure anti-war credentials like Dennis Kucinich get the nomination, but in this world of real politics, Kucinich has no chance of getting the nom. Kucinich is wasting his time (much like Ron Paul of the RethugliKKKlan side) and shouldn't even bother running. We're never going to get a candidate to satisfy the purity trolls so we should cast our lot with the big 2 (or 3, if you count Edwards).
Instead of blaming the Democrats who fund the war, more time and energy should be spent criticizing the Rethug congresscritters and prez who continue to vote to enable it. Eating one of our own (Rahm Emanuel) will get us nowhere.
